CINNAMON FRENCH TOAST

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup half and half

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 1/2 TBSP unsalted butter

  • 4 slices thick cut cinnamon swirl Pullman bread

Directions

  • Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 425 degrees. Set sheet pan to the side for later use.
  • In a shallow bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar until incorporated. Set custard mixture aside.
  • Melt butter in 10-inch or 12 inch skillet over medium heat.
  • Add a slice of bread one at a time into the custard mixture and soak for at least 10 seconds per side.
  • Transfer to the hot skillet and cook until both sides are golden.
  • Transfer French toast on sheet pan and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  • Dust with powdered sugar (optional)
  • Serve hot with maple syrup.

Notes

  • Substitutions: Instead of half and half you can use whole or 2% milk.
