CINNAMON FRENCH TOAST

4 large eggs
1 cup half and half
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 TBSP unsalted butter
4 slices thick cut cinnamon swirl Pullman bread
Directions
- Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 425 degrees. Set sheet pan to the side for later use.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar until incorporated. Set custard mixture aside.
- Melt butter in 10-inch or 12 inch skillet over medium heat.
- Add a slice of bread one at a time into the custard mixture and soak for at least 10 seconds per side.
- Transfer to the hot skillet and cook until both sides are golden.
- Transfer French toast on sheet pan and bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Dust with powdered sugar (optional)
- Serve hot with maple syrup.
Notes
- Substitutions: Instead of half and half you can use whole or 2% milk.
